FAQs
What to Expect at Your Preview
Will I be booked with the same artist for my preview and wedding day?
Yes! We always pair the same artist with the preview and wedding day so that we can get to know one another and establish your final look together.
Where does the Preview take place?
We are fully mobile and come to you, with the exception of our San Luis Obispo clients, as we have a studio space in Arroyo Grande for Previews.
When Should You Book Your Preview?
We generally suggest scheduling your preview 2-6 months in advance, but we can accommodate preview bookings up to a year in advance. Previews are typically held Monday through Friday, but we can occasionally arrange for a weekend appointment during the winter.
What to Bring to Your Preview?
We will collect your inspiration photos and style questionnaire before your preview to ensure your artist is fully prepared.
We also recommend bringing:
✔ Any hair accessories, veil, or clip-in extensions if you plan on using them.
✔ A top with a similar neckline and color to your wedding outfit to help visualize the final look.
How to Prepare for Your Preview?
If you plan on wearing clip-in extensions, we suggest bringing them with you to your preview. However, we can still work on a style without them to get a general idea of your desired look.
If you plan to have a spray tan for your wedding day, it’s helpful (but not necessary) to have one done a few days before your preview. This allows you to see how your final look will appear with your tanned skin tone. We always color match each time we see you.
Who Should You Bring to Your Preview?
Since we are fully mobile and come to you (other than our studio in Arroyo Grande/San Luis Obispo), you are welcome to have whoever you’d like with you. However, we recommend keeping the group small to avoid too many conflicting opinions, which can lead to unnecessary confusion.
What sort of space is needed for a Preview?
We’ve worked in all kinds of spaces—big and small—so we can help you find the best setup when we arrive. Ideally, we recommend a well-lit area with a countertop or table (such as a kitchen table or desk) and a nearby outlet for styling tools.
Bathrooms, while convenient, aren’t the best option for previews—let’s keep those for their intended use! Natural light is always a plus, as it helps us achieve the most accurate color matching and makeup application.
How Long Will Your Preview Last?
Our preview sessions are booked for 2-3 hours to allow plenty of time to refine your look.
What Feedback is Most Helpful?
Honesty is key! If something feels off, let us know during your preview. However, we also understand that it can be hard to put your thoughts into words, so we suggest wearing your look for the day and sending us feedback afterward.
What If You Have Additional Changes After Your Preview?
We will follow up a few days after your preview to check if you have any feedback or adjustments you'd like to make and add those to our notes!
Should Your Mom or Bridesmaids Have a Preview?
We recommend a preview for anyone feeling uncertain or anxious about getting their hair and/or makeup done. This helps eliminate stress and ensures they feel comfortable with their wedding day look.
What if you need to forgo a preview?
While we highly recommend a preview prior so that we can get to know one another and establish your final look before the big day. However, we do get many brides who must forgo the preview. In that case, during our final confirmation, we send a style questionnaire and ask that you send us a current photo of yourself as well as inspiration photos of the look you wish to achieve so we can be as prepared as possible.
What to Expect on Your Wedding Day
What Should You/your Attendants Bring?
✔ Inspiration photos for reference. (Attendants)
✔ Any hair accessories you plan to wear.
✔ A favorite lip color for touchups throughout the day.
How Should You Be Prepped?
For Hair services, everyone should arrive with clean, dry hair. For makeup services, a clean face is best. Avoid heavy serums and creams—a light moisturizer is okay.
What to Wear for Your Appointment?
Button-down shirts, robes, or tops with wide necklines are best to avoid messing up your hair and makeup when changing.
Will There Be a Schedule?
We will send a final wedding day schedule to the bride about a month before the wedding with available appointment slots. While this is not required, it’s helpful to keep things organized.
On the wedding day, we may need to adjust the order to ensure the best flow, especially if someone is running late. However, we highly recommend everyone be ready early! This ensures we stay on schedule and can rearrange appointments if needed.

When to Schedule Beauty Treatments
✔ Facials – Start a skincare routine 6+ months in advance if possible. Your final facial should be 7-10 days before the wedding to allow any redness or irritation to subside. Avoid extractions right before the big day.
✔ Dermaplaning – 1 week before the wedding to allow the skin to settle and avoid unexpected reactions.
✔ Eyebrow Waxing/Threading – 5-7 days before the wedding to avoid redness or breakouts.
✔ Lash Extensions – 2-3 days before the wedding to ensure they look fresh but allow time for adjustments.
✔ Hair Color/Highlights – 2-3 weeks before the wedding to let the color settle and avoid last-minute mishaps.
✔ Hair Extensions – 2-3 weeks before the wedding to allow time for blending and adjustments.
✔ Spray Tan – 2 days before the wedding so the color can fully develop and avoid transfer onto your dress. Do a trial tan 1-2 months before to find the perfect shade.
✔ Manicure & Pedicure – 1-2 days before the wedding to keep them fresh and chip-free.
Must-Have Beauty Treatments

Beauty Treatments to Avoid
🚫 Trying new skincare treatments/products within 4-6 weeks of the wedding (risk of breakouts or reactions).
🚫 Strong chemical peels or aggressive facials within 1 month of the wedding (risk of peeling or sensitivity).
🚫 Waxing the face too close to the wedding (can cause irritation or breakouts).
🚫 Drastic hair color changes right before the wedding – test any changes well in advance.
🚫 DIY tans or new spray tan artists too close to the wedding – always do a trial first!
🚫 New cosmetic procedures (Botox, fillers, microneedling, etc.) within 2 weeks of the wedding.
If you're considering any of these, test them 2-3 months before to ensure you like the results.
